Courtney

Courtney has been here for almost 4 weeks now and seems to be settling in. It took about a week and a half to get her into school while we were waiting for her records and other paperwork. We got her mid-term grades this week though and for only being at school for 3 week she is doing great. She has a:
C+ in Algebra II
B in Chemistry I
C+ in Weight Training
A in Honors Humanities
C in AP Psychology
A+ in Advance Drama (she's never been in drama before and took this as an elective and seems to love it now!)
B+ in English
A- in French (first time in French and missed three weeks of learning and still has an A. Way to go!)

North High School Homecoming Parade

Here's the link to the news coverage of the parade. I don't know how long the link will be active for. http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/10117901.html#

Someone stepped right in front when I went to take a picture of the French Club sign

Courtney is in the front on the right hand side.

There she is waving at us

Their Eiffel Tower was made out of cardboard and was 17 feet tall! Courtney was on the committee that built and painted everything on the float.

Update from the Leland's

Well it's been a while since I posted and alot has happened. First off my yard sale went pretty good and I was able to get money to pay for groceries, a few bills and gas. Jim's daughter Courtney moved in with us over Labor Day weekend. I am taking guardianship over her. She was not getting along with her mom or her brother in South Dakota so her mom agreed to let her come here. She is a senior this year and will be going away to college next year so this is just a temporary thing. Jim is slowly getting back to work full time on light duty. He made it almost all day every day this last week. I switched to graveyard shift to bring in more money and to be with my family at night. I have worked that shift for a week now and it seems to be going good. I get off work at 6:30 and am home by 6:50 for Jim and Courtney to leave. I get Jordie on the bus at 8:10 and then sleep until 3:45. Jordan's bus gets home at 4:05 and Jim and Courtney get home about that same time. We can sit down as a family together and eat dinner and then enjoy each other's company before I got to work at 9:30. Our internet and cell phones are back on now so anyone who wants to contact us can

My mom's book!

Some of you know my mom is having her book published. She finally got word that the release date will be Oct. 22nd. I hope you all will get the book and read it. My mom has written about women from all of her travels. You can go to her blog about the book here: http://womankindconnection.blogspot.com/ She and my stepdad will be going on tour in the next year to promote the book. Way to go mom!

Jordan lost a tooth!

This tooth has been loose for almost 3 months and it finally came out today when we were brushing teeth. The new tooth was coming in fast behind it and I think it just finally gave up.

Here she is working on the tooth back on Sept. 1

And it finally came out on the 11th.

See how far the permanent tooth is in behind it.
